Jason Durham is the definition of an outdoor educator. Born in the Minnesota Northwoods, Jason accompanied his father on fishing trips from the earliest point of his existence and at the age of fifteen started his own guide business, Go Fish! Guide Service, which he still operates to this day. Realizing his innate ability to teach others about angling and finding enjoyment in doing so, Jason pursued a degree in Elementary Education, granting him the opportunity to bring his love of angling into the classroom and his passion for teaching into the lives of his students. Parents, colleagues, and most importantly the children, have taken note of his enthusiasm. He was nominated for the Arvig Communications Rural Teacher of the Year in 2002 and the DisneyHand National Teacher of the Year in 2003 & 2004.
While not in the classroom during the available weekends and summers, Jason dedicates large portions of time to educating anglers through clinics, seminars and on-the-water instruction. Granting someone the opportunity to go fishing is wonderful, but witnessing them emerge as a conservationist and steward of the outdoors is a gift, Durham said. This belief has driven Jason to organize events that get both children and adults involved in angling.
Jason is an active author who publishes work throughout the country and via the Internet. He has been featured on fishing shows broadcast on Fox Sports Net , KARE-11, and The Outdoor Channel and is an International Game and Fish Association Certified Captain.
